50cc Linhai / Yamaha Scooter

Owning a 50cc scooter does have its advantages and disadvantages but as far as I’m concerned the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. I will try to give you some insight into what these items are in this post.

First of all let’s discuss the advantages of owning a 50cc scooter;

  • Fuel Savings – With today’s spiraling gasoline prices everyone is looking for some kind of relief and that relief can be found in a vehicle that gives you excellent gas mileage. A 50cc scooter fills that requirement very nicely because it typically gets between 80 to 100MPG. That could mean a very substantial savings over a 12 month period.
  • Economically Priced – The 50cc scooters can be obtained for a very reasonable price. Normally you can buy a 50cc scooter for somewhere between $900 to $1500 and have a very reliable product. You will see scooters advertised for less money but be very careful when it comes to quality. Cheaper isn’t always better!
  • Maintenance – Maintenance costs on a scooter is very minimal when you compare it to the maintenance required by an automobile. This could mean a very substantial savings for the scooter owner.
  • Insurance – Scooter insurance is very inexpensive compared to other vehicles. In some states you are not required to carry insurance on a scooter but if I were you I would check with my local DOT.
  • License Requirements – In most cases you are not required to have a motorcycle license to drive a 50cc scooter but you need a regular  drivers license. Scooters above 50cc require a motorcycle license. Again, as I said before, check all the details with your local DOT.
  • Versatility – Everyone in the family can normally operate a 50cc  scooter because they are lightweight and do not require shifting. The only thing I would advise that if your children are going to ride please give them some safety instructions and make sure they wear protective equipment such as a helmet and gloves.
  • Style – You’ll find the lineup of the scooters available today are very stylish and come in a great variety. It’s just a matter of personal taste.
  • Flexibility – Because of their size and maneuverability they provide a great advantage when it comes to traffic and it is much easier to find parking for a scooter. This means a great saving in time and stress for the owner.

Owning a 50cc scooter does have some disadvantages as I will point out below;

  • Highway Driving – 50cc scooter cannot be used on highways and interstates because of its limited speed which is 35 mph or below.
  • In most states it’s illegal to carry a second passenger.
  • Very steep inclines and hills may be a challenge for 50cc  scooter.

Owning a 50cc  scooter, because the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages, has become a very popular idea for the many reasons mentioned above. The presence hard economic times have spurned this interest and on top of everything else these scooters are fun to ride. If you check thescootersmopedsstore.com you will find some quality 50cc scooters.

If you are planning to have an enjoyable summer riding your electric scooter or moped, then the first thing you want to check and replace if necessary is your battery. If you took the necessary steps during the winter months your battery should still be serviceable. If it looks like it’s going to be troublesome then by all means replace it. This will eliminate problems for you later on.
